The practices this week focus on healing mind, body, and spirit. You can do this exercise at your desk or if you can find a secluded room, you can do the exercise there. If doing meditation to alleviate stress at work seems a little strange to you, I totally understand. I haven’t always done meditation. I had a friend who helped me understand the benefits of doing “mind” meditations.
I learned that the benefits of meditation help in myriad of ways. According to Mayo Clinic, “Meditation is considered a type of mind-body complementary medicine. Meditation can produce a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind” (https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/meditation/in-depth/meditation/art-20045858).
This water scene is a healing meditation. I started doing ocean meditation after I had a dream where I was in the ocean being healed.
Today, imagine you are in the ocean. You can either imagine you are submerged or sitting partially covered by water. It’s entirely up to you.
You sit comfortably while you feel the water move you.
Tiny sea creatures float past you. You know the creatures do not pose a threat. They are here to help heal you.
As you sit on the ocean floor, let your upper body relax.
Let all of the stress leave your neck and upper back.
Relax your arms and hands.
Feel your feet and legs get heavy.
Now your core muscles in the middle section of your body are heavy. The water around you is gently moving waves around you.
You are complete relaxed. Let healing flow through you. If you have problem areas that need attention, let healing flow to that area.
You begin to feel waves of warmth reverberate through your body.
Stay in this healing space as long as you want. As you return to work, periodically remember the healing.
Be Healed, Deborah
