Isaiah 44:3-4 The Message
Jesurun, my beloved, chosen and blessed by the Spirit of God.
So…are YOU Jesurun?
Isaiah 44:1-4, “But now hear, O Jacob my servant, Israel whom I have chosen!
Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you:Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun whom I have chosen.
For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground;I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.
They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams.”
Some say Jesurun is a term of endearment for Israel. For example, it’s like saying ‘my beloved Israel’.
But, who is Jesurun?
Jesurun renewed is chosen, by choice.
I Peter 2:9-10 says, “you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
By turning to God holy…set apart.
Jesurun is the light of the world according to Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
Be the light.
Jesurun is the salt of the earth and are told in Matthew 5:13, “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet.”
Salt preserves and binds.
Be salty.
Jesurun is the intercessor for the world according to 2 Timothy 2:1-2, “You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”
Tell the world they are loved…by your action love them.
You are chosen to make disciples according to Matthew 28:19-20, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Make disciples by loving them to Jesus.
You are saved by grace according to Ephesians 2:8-10, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
We, the chosen are His workmanship. The mighty Spirit is the gift.
The chosen are promised spiritual pure streams of water on dry ground.
The chosen are told their descendants will be filled with the Spirit and their descendants will be blessed.
Isaiah 44:3-4 in The Message says,
“For I will pour water on the thirsty ground and send streams coursing through the parched earth.I will pour my Spirit into your descendants and my blessing on your children. They shall sprout like grass on the prairie, like willows alongside creeks.”
The seed of the chosen will sprout spiritual seeds like grass, like the willow on the creek.
Each generation will be renewed and filled, renewed and filled with the mighty Spirit of God.
Spiritual Practice: BE The Chosen
Claim the promise. Love the world. Be real. Laugh for laughter is contagious and it draws a crowd. BE chosen.
