MY Sacred Space

Sacred Space

I know people who have stunningly beautiful sacred spaces.... as a matter of fact, their entire home is a sacred space. I think that’s wonderful.

Other people have a closet that is their sacred space, like the movie War Room. Her sacred space was her prayer closet.

A sacred space can also be set up in one corner of a room. You can add a desk with a small fountain and candles. It can look, sound, and smell like your own oasis.

Another great example of a sacred space is a special spot in the woods. Some people love being outside near trees and flowers. That space draws them closer to God.

The thing about Sacred Spaces is that it’s whatever makes you feel closer to God. Anything that helps you to feel set apart from your busy world is a sacred space.

As a matter of fact, a sacred space doesn’t have to be a physical space.

Take my sacred space for example.

My sacred space doesn’t look beautiful or stunning. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty cluttered. My Sacred Space doesn’t have a desk or candles. There aren’t really any walls. There are no trees.

My sacred space is in my mind. My special sacred time is whenI first wake up in the morning. Years ago I read an Irish Spirituality book that talked about the ‘Thin Space’ where heaven is really close to earth. Most mornings, when I first wake up, God in me is really strong. The Spirit is thick and I know I am standing in a thin space.

So, if you aren’t sure what your sacred space needs to look like, pray about it. Envision it in your mind.

Ask, is it a physical place inside, or is it outside? Envision what it looks like and make it come to life. Even if your sacred space is in your mind, you can envision what it will feel like.

You and God together make it
