I believe quiet moments are sacred moments.
Understand that the use of the word ‘sacred’ in our context means to be set apart. There are times when all of us need to step out of the noisy hustle and bustle and look for special moments that set us apart from the crowd.
Why do I say we need to?
Simply because it’s the healthy thing to do.
I watch and listen for those moments.
It’s snowing in my world today. That’s a little unusual for us to get a Spring snow in this climate, but it does happen. When I stepped outside with my Schnoodle pup at dusk, I could hear faint noises.
As I listened closely, I realized the turkeys in the neighborhood were talking to each other. See, they do that at dusk. They call to each other to gather together before nightfall. The sound of the Turkey Call was clear tonight because of the falling snow. Snow absorbs sound because it’s porous. (https://cbs6albany.com/weather/weather-extra/the-sound-altering-power-of-snow)
As I listened for the sounds of the turkeys calling to each other, I could feel my mind relax and melt into their calls.
The snow and the sound of the Turkey Call was my sacred moment…set apart and very sacred.
Look and listen for sacred moments.
Be Aware, Deborah
